Our Mission

Transfolk WA is dedicated to providing public benevolence to the trans and gender diverse community in Western Australia. Our organisation works to advance health and social welfare through peer support, creating safe and inclusive spaces, advocating for policy change, improving access to health and wellbeing initiatives, and educating the wider community to foster understanding and awareness of gender diversity.

As a member, you become an integral part of our community and organisation. Benefits include:

Who Can Become a Member?

Membership is open to individuals who are 18 years or older and support the objects of Transfolk WA. You are eligible to apply if you:

  1. Identify as a member of the trans and gender diverse community; OR
  2. Have significant ties to the trans and gender diverse community, or to a person who identifies as part of it. This could include:
    • A history of advocacy, activism, or meaningful service supporting the community.
    • Ongoing involvement in initiatives benefiting the community.
    • Being a parent, child, sibling, extended family member, spouse, partner, caregiver, or similar, demonstrating genuine support for a community member.

The Board may also consider applications based on specific individual circumstances.

Those who are not eligible for membership and still wish to support Transfolk WA should consider becoming a Supporter.

Membership

  • Standard Membership: The annual fee is $10 AUD.
  • Financial Hardship: We recognise that fees can be a barrier. The Board may reduce or waive fees for individuals experiencing low income or financial hardship. Please contact us if this applies to you.
  • Life Membership: This is an honour awarded by the Board to individuals who have shown extraordinary commitment and made significant contributions to Transfolk WA over time. Life Members are exempt from annual fees.
